It is actually so hilarious to watch this, when you grew up with these foods.

I was born in Russia, lived there, and visit from time to time. I have tried all of these foods, and most of it is pretty good if done right. As most of the Russian commenters pointed out, the Herring under Fur Coat (Seledka pod shuboy) needs to be cooked right, otherwise it doesn't taste good at all. Judging by the look of what they ate in the video, it wasn't prepared very well. Russian bologna varies, but sometimes it can be damn good. Doktorskaya is delicious; way better than any American bologna that I've tried. There are tasteless varieties, and they probably tried one of them. Pickled tomatoes taste interesting, but I haven't had them for a while so I can't really recall the flavor too well at the moment. I remember liking them. Holodets is something I eat pretty often, but always after i spread some Hren (horseradish with beets) on top of it. Hren makes it taste great. I doubt it would be very edible without it. If they described their Salo as "hard", then you gave them some bad stuff. I know sometimes crappy Salo can be very hard and tasteless. Usually, Salo is a cut of meat and soft fat layered in even intervals, and it's sometimes peppered. Salo can be great if you get the right stuff. I personally don't think they gave them very good examples of each food, but that's alright. At least they did a video about Russian food: that's something I wanted to see them make.

As a Russian American I guess its sorta gross to people who havent really eaten this stuff but to somebody whose had all of this food in their diet thru-out the years to some extent, its actually pretty fucking good. I would recommend Beat Soup however. Borscht ^_^ Also Blini (Thin Pancakes), Ikra (Fish Eggs) Usually Good With Bread, Salad Olivier (Potato All of that is much better than what you guys put --- Shoulda done more research haha

It's only bizarre because you're not used to it. Twinkies are bizarre if you think about it.
