A fragile truce over a violent taxi strike is barely holding in Cape Town. Santaco accuses the city of reneging on the deal by impounding 14 vehicles this past weekend. Parliament's Transport Committee chairperson, Mina Lesoma discussed this with eNCA's Gareth Edwards. Courtesy of #DStv403

What she is trying to say is that Capetown is doing their jobs and the rest of the county is playing games with innocent lives and taking bribes

The media continues to misrepresent this issue.
There was no agreement to cease impoundments for now, as the presenter alleges.
They agreed to only impound for certain violations.
Please get your facts straight.

CoCT is the only Municipality doing their job.
The rest just leave them to drive how they like.

Once the laws and rules of the road, in terms of section 87 of the RTA, it's that simple.

The president of the Republic ran away from the taxis on women's day. So what does this woman want. Did the president send her to cover for him.

So the LTA is applied in Gauteng ?….that is why the taxis there do as they please and drive around in skoroskoros …. How do you hold your head high every day my dear MP.

Even though I think that taxi's should be disciplined, it is true that the law is only being applied to taxis. This is most likely because the agenda that the city has is to get specifically taxis off the road because they want public transportation to mainly consist of the trains which they are hoping they will be in charge of.

Ouch!! Really some of our road safety??? If a person is now in such a position - Would you think to be able to think a little better that the law must be observed??? If you don’t know the law then it’s probably very difficult... I mean go and learn what the rules of the traffic laws say and then you’ll come back so that the right laws can then be applied‼️

In what universe are these taxi drivers living in that they believe they  are exempt from obeying National road traffic regulations ?
Until the associations and drivers change their attitude impound their taxis, fine and jail them if necessary.
