I'll show you how to make Royal Icing using Wilton's meringue powder.

Easy to make, this is a very good icing for gingerbread houses, cake decorations, cookie flooding, and other things.

Thanks for the very welcomed comment :-) It's great to hear :-) Many times somebody won't even attempt a recipe because it just looks difficult or overwhelming on paper, but seeing somebody do it, really makes it look easy, and possible for most to accomplish too ! Hi josephine, your thoughts are correct ! Egg whites are used in Royal icing, for those who do not wish to use egg whites, then you can buy commercial products like Wilton's meringue powder. You can make a nice buttercream icing, ice your cake, then do decorate borders, flowers etc. out of Royal icing.

Try it out, you might like it :-) I do like it, it's not overly butter tasting and it has a nice balance. If you don't like vanilla, you can add in another flavoring you enjoy, it also is a crusting buttercream, so it's excellent in warmer temp, and does well for decorating. It's really up to personal taste, so it's a hard question to answer, you may find it perfect, somebody may find it too sweet. You really do have to try it and decide. I hope that helps you. Hi! Can u please show how to make an icing that covers a cake. I am looking for a light, fluffy and not too sweet icing. I tried sponge cake. It was awesome. And thanks again for those useful tips.

You can use fresh egg whites, or powdered egg white powder. Look for something called "Albumen powder" I hope this helps.

Hi Raja, I do indicate in my recipe that if you wish to flood cookies you'll want to add water, however that amount will depend on you, adding a teaspoon at a time is enough, do not add a lot at one time, add a teaspoon and mix the Royal icing well, you do not want it too thin. Look at the icing, take some on your fork and watch how it flows off the fork. When you think it's of correct consistency, then stop and test it out, you can do this on a piece of waxed paper using a toothpick.

Hi ShadowClone1989, I'm glad to tell you that there is another easy way to make Royal icing, and that is to use egg whites :-) Use 3 to 4 egg whites to 4 cups of icing sugar, and add in 1 teaspoon of lemon. If the icing is too thin, add in a bit more sugar. I should do a video on this in the new year. I hope this helps :-)
