ASWB Masters/Clinical LCSW/LMSW Exam Practice Questions

Today I review 5 questions that delve into different content areas. I provide insight on the type of questions: Recall,Reasoning, or Application, as well as apply the SFAREAFI as applicable.

The ASWB Clinical Exam, or the Association of Social Work Boards Clinical Exam, is a test that was made to determine whether or not an individual's level of knowledge of social work in a clinical setting is sufficient. You will have four hours to complete 170 multiple choice questions, including 20 pre-test questions, that test your knowledge in Human Behavior, Diversity Issues, Diagnosis and Assessment, Psychotherapy, Communication, Therapeutic Relationships, Professional Ethics, Clinical Supervision, Practice Evaluation, Service Delivery, and Clinical Practice and Management. To register, you must have at least a Master's degree from a social work program, and two years of clinical social work experience.

For question 2 would we assume that because she is community health clinic they have not built rapport because the though i had in my head was that the therapist should discuss the dual relationship rather than refer a client out that she has completed sessions with.

I'm having a hard time understanding why in both cases when the social worker said they thought they could handle the situation ( 2 and 4) the answer was to refer. Also in 5, it indicates that the SW is "working" with. In that case, wouldn't they already know the the clients mental health history?

Q: can you please explain on question5, why option "C" isn't a (refer) ? How do you differ a (refer) from a (facilitate/Intervene)?

I am so confused about number 2! I have taken like 12 practice tests, and I always record the ones I got wrong. In all the other similar situations--B is the correct answer. I don't understand why C is the choice here. I understand your reasoning, but as is often in trying to learn how this test works, I had previously accepted the reasoning that we first had to respect the client's self-determination. Please help if you can. Thank you.

Question #3 sort of confused me: due to phallic not in the answer stem. Oral birth-1; Anal 1-3; Phallic 3-6; Latent 6-puberty; and Genital puberty-onward....Did you mean to use those ages in the tutorial???
