Meet Winslow. At seven months old, he did what most unsupervised pups would do...he got into the household garbage. Unfortunately, he hit the jackpot and enjoyed a feast on Corn on the Cob.

When dogs swallow corn on the cob they typically only chew it to an extent, swallowing chunks of the cob that are not digestible. These cob chunks can then hang out in the stomach before moving into the small intestines where they usually get stuck! You see, corn cobs can be very dangerous for dogs. They are indigestible, absorbent, and abrasive, causing a number of serious health problems for four-footers.

Winslow got into the trash a week ago and had not been right since. At his ER visit, it was discovered a foreign body was present but vets' feared he had already become septic. His owners could not financially support his needs and treatment, so elected euthanasia. Michele's Rescue had received a phone call from the emergency vet as they searched for someone who would save this boy. He is only seven months old after all and still has so much life left to live. Without hesitation, rescuers stepped up and rushed this sweet boy into surgery.

Thankfully, it turned out Winslow's gut wasn't as bad as doctors originally feared. But, he still has a 10-14 day recovery and rescuers have a giant bill to pay. Tonight's post-op update found that he is waking up well from anesthesia and the techs report that “his tail works great”. If you can donate toward Winslow's medical bills, it would be so greatly appreciated. Every dollar makes a difference and means more to rescuers and Winslow than you know! Thank you in advance for helping rescuers save Winslow!
