What is THINK-PAIR-SHARE?

In this video, I clarify what think-pair-share is and how you can use it in your classroom. This structured talk (also known as structured speaking) activity is one of the first that teachers often learn and one of the easies to use in your classroom.

Structured talk can be especially effective in increasing engagement in classroom discussion and learning in your content area. These activities can also help with classroom management by giving your more talkative students a chance to share their thoughts with their classmates within the structured speaking activity.

Whether it's elementary school, middle school, or high school, teaching can has its challenges. From managing student behavior in your classroom to planning out curriculum to working with parents, there is a lot to learn! By using structured talk, you can increase the engagement in classroom discussions by having students talk to a variety of talking partners. Structured talk can also increase students' confidence in their speaking abilities, which will assist them in both learning and in life.
