Shigeru Kawai piano's tuning is so exquisite that Gadjiev's F minor Ballade takes you to a different time, a different place... so hard to explain. There are so many colors and so many emotions.

Avery s play made my day, the old school Chopin playing in the most beautiful meaning of the word, reminds me of the winner from the year 1949 Bella Davidovits ❤️

I am particularly impressed by Eva Gevorgyan's repertory choice. It's a very interesting combination. First the Nocturne where Chopin plays with major and minor keys. After that the stormy winter wind Etude in a minor followed by an etude of the same tonality but a contrasting character - "a miniature scherzo". And after that then she continues with the "big" Scherzo which is characterized by great warmth contrasted by the middle tune in c sharp minor which is again reminiscent of the Nocturne. In that she creates a logical cicle rich in contrasts. I liked her etudes very much. She offered us a very fresh interpretation. I have to admit that her Scherzo lacked in elegance and delicacy. I hope she will pass to the second round. Good luck to all contstants!
