'Greatest Living Poet' Bob Dylan Awarded Nobel Prize In Literature

In a surprise move, Bob Dylan was awarded the Nobel Prize for literature Thursday. The Nobel committee cited the legendary singer and songwriter for creating "new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition." They also said he "had the status of an icon." He will receive $927,740 in prize money. Dylan, who was born Robert Allen Zimmerman, is 75 years old. Swedish Academy member Per Wastberg said: "He is probably the greatest living poet." #InsideEdition

It's about time Bob was recognized by the Nobel committee. The guy is a genius so rare that his expressions had to take the form of song. Mysterious but just as credible as novels.

Dylan has both created and"translated" complex and often contradictory themes within the person and societies, past and present. He is a genius, defying classifications of musician, performer, writer, producer. He surely deserves the award!

His body of work changed the world. From Hattie Carroll was a maid in the kitchen(forget the title) to Masters of War his early works addressed inequality and taught us to see other people's plight. As a life long ballad collector and singer, I feel that Dylan deserved the Nobel Prize for Literature. His poetry was to the point and beautifully crafted.

I'm not sure that he's actually the greatest living poet, but he makes Maya Angelou sound like a Kindergartener on the short bus.
