Ever since ASL song translations were introduced to me and my classmates, the idea to share songs that would bring laughter to everyone dug it’s way into my mind and stubbornly lurked in the back of my head. For half of our ASL 1 final, we had to pick a song to translate into sign. I chose to do this song both out of love and because I’d always been curious as to what sillier songs would look like in ASL- all the songs my classmates had previously translated were either about heartbreak or following your dreams. During the translation, I’d hit some snags here and there (mostly due to my limited knowledge), but I powered through and successfully reached my longed-for goal of inspiring chimes of laughter to echo across the classroom. Even our teacher got a kick out of the song. It was the most fun I’ve ever had translating a song by far. Thank you, NSP, for creating this song and making all my classmate’s days.
