If you're dealing with a Toyota Pre Collision System Malfunction Warning, this video will show you how to fix it quickly and easily. Don't let this warning ruin your driving experience - watch this video for a step-by-step guide on resolving the issue. Please make sure you show some support by leaving a comment, subscribing and don't forget to hit the bell for more, THANK YOU! See below for the detailed list of things to try. 👇

👉 There are 3 steps to resolve this issue.

1. Try a hard reset at the battery.

Hard Reset

1. Disconnect both battery cables.

2. Touch the cable ends together (away from the battery) for 15 seconds.

(Note: If the cables will not reach each other, a jumper wire can be installed to connect the cables.)

3. Reconnect the cables Positive Cable First to avoid any voltage spikes.

Touching the cables together drains the reserve voltage in the Module Capacitors, causing the Modules to reset and re-establish communications. This might resolve the issue.

Alternatively, you can just disconnect the negative battery cable, however you must leave it disconnected for at least 3 hours. (Preferably, overnight)

2. If the hard reset did not resolve the issue, you must check ALL of the vehicle fuses with a test light.

There are a lot fuses on this vehicle there is no way to "guess" which fuse has shorted based off of just looking.

Here is a link to a short video on how to check fuses with a test light (Click the link)

For most of the 2018 Rav4's there is one fuse box under the hood and one under the dash driver side. There are many variants for this year model.

Replace any fuse that only has power on one side

3. If no shorted fuses were found and the hard reset had no effect you will have to take the vehicle to a shop equipped with Toyota proprietary software to resolve the issue.

This means either the Toyota dealer or a shop specializing in Toyota repairs.

If nothing else is working, try this...strangely it worked (from a forum) "On the morning going to the appointment, the light went off. I got to the service dealer, he hooked up a scanner, it read that my gas cap was defective. He asked if I fill my car up with gas and go and click more than 2 to 3 times after the gas is full. He said that I'm putting to much gas in. Over flow of gas goes into the charcoal filter. Don't over fill the gas tank. So far so good. Hope this helps you out."

It's the aftermarket hood heater which is actually the front facing camera heater. Make sure it's plugged up. If it's not plugged up plug it up and that'll stop the issue. If it still does it after you plug it up it's because the hood heater is aftermarket it needs to be replaced with a factory Toyota Hood heater. That's all it needs. I've been in the auto glass business almost 30 years and we've seen this a lot with Toyotas. When we replace the windshield we always take the aftermarket hood heater off the aftermarket windshield and put the OEM Hood heater on the aftermarket windshield so all the plugs Jive together and you won't get this problem. Everything he is doing and saying is sounds good but it's not going to resolve the issue, especially if you've had the windshield replaced and they used an aftermarket hood heater. The hood heaters come on the glass aftermarket, like I said just take the aftermarket hood heater off and buy you a factory Toyota Hood heater, or call the auto glass company that did the work and have them take care of it, it should be under warranty. We warranty everything we touch. Make them pay for it. 😊 Especially if you've had a windshield replacement

So I had this from a different cause. It seems people can get this from many different issues but I found my solution.

It worked for a Toyota 4runner with TSS.

My 2018 corolla IM just had this problem the other day, so i quickly took it to the nearest toyota dealer, and they said it will cost $2800!!!! to replace that pre collision camera. Which i passed up on because of the ridiculous price. I tried everything so far, but none of them works, I'm most certainly sure that i don't need that pre collision camera thingy to drive my car, but it's just annoying because there's no way to remove the malfunction message/warning light on the dashboard 🥲
