The Kawasaki Ninja 400 is a favorite amongst beginner bikes all over the world. In the US however, people have many worries about the Ninja 400 on the highway but I put those rumors to rest in this video! I take the Ninja 400 on the highway and test it myself!

I did 6500 miles on my 400 with a lot of highway miles. I weigh around 160. The bike is totally fine. Awesome for the money. I recently upgraded to a z900 and I love how smooth it is. I enjoy having more power for the highway.

Ninja 400 and Z400 are fantastic bikes.

They are constantly underestimated because they are "small cc bikes, " but the reality is that these are nothing like the Ninja 250s from the past.

With the old 250, you'd be wringing its neck getting it to 90mph; in the 400, you could be into triple digits with a bit of room to spare (tops out around 117 from my experience).

These bikes will absolutely rip until 80 without much sign of slowing down. In fact, in the quarter mile, they compare similarly to modern sports cars (Think Mustang GT, Camaro SS, Charger Scat Pack, etc.).

So while they certainly lag behind 600s, the 400 bikes from Kawasaki would satisfy all but the most thrill-seeking of motorcycle riders.

Short, sweet and showed everything that needed to be shown. I enjoyed it so I will subscribe to see what else you have done. Australian with a 2021 KTM Duke 390. Keep well.

Yes it can do it, but if you're going to ride on the highway alot it makes sense to go for a bigger cc bike, 650-800 or more. Lower revs at same speed will make it more comfortable. Although you need to be much more experienced to ride those bigger bikes, 400 is a good starter.

I'm actually glad you did a review on it this way, I always go back and forth on the 400 or 600, I like the 400 I'm 5'10 and 190 so it's a pretty close comparison for what it would be like for me so I'm glad it still hold up fine even for us on the larger end of things 😹

Did 116 on my ninja other day. Can hit 90 mph easy in 4th gear if you WOT.. Within seconds... Bike is nice... Very nice handling. These 400 was built for high revving.. You can hit redline and even bounce without hurting the bike.. (riding with common sense)

I'm 150lbs and the bike rips!! Went 115 mph on mine, at 6000 elevation and it had more left I wasn't maxed out

My girlfriend got a Ninja 400 yesterday, and after getting to ride it myself I can definitely attest that it is a small bike with quite a bit of power. Not too much, not too little.

I wanna thank you for making this video. I’m 235 pounds and it seems like every other reviewer is 170 pounds and 6 foot tall. this answers so many of my questions. I very much appreciate it.❤

Nice! Precisely the information I needed to know. I'm actually looking to downsize on size and displacement, but I've never ridden a street bike smaller than a 650 and wasn't sure if it would rattle me to death on the highway. My weight fluctuates around 155, so this should work out great for my commute. Cheers!

Aside from a larger windscreen (which does make a noticeable difference at high speeds.) I weigh 210Lbs and my stock 2018 Ninja 400 can easily hit 185kmh (115mph) on a fairly windy day. Not to mention it quickly accelerates up to about 175kmh (108mph) where wind resistance and getting past power band slows acceleration.

I have yet to push it past 192kmh (119mph) as i usually run out of room on the highw-i mean.. track (i totally don't do anything past posted speed limits on public roads at all ;)

For like $1000 you can get a full exhaust, velocity stacks/filter and a tune. That’ll bump it up 10 whp with at least 2-3 whp across the entire power band lower in the RPM’s. On a small bike you really feel power gains like that going from 44 whp to 54... With gearing added with those mods it’ll do almost 130 mph GPS tested…

Good video I’m a big rider and just wanted to buy this bike for commuting and was worried if it would work on the highway with me.
