Who's still listening this beautiful song in 2021

This song always brings tears to my eyes. I was homeless and sleeping rough for years due to long term heroin addiction. I had blisters all the time because my shoes never fit right as I got them from Church donation boxes and if they were a bit small they were still better than nothing. My shoes got wet all the time and I didn't have another pair to wear while they dried and I never seemed to sit down, when I did I usually got moved on by the police. I have been clean for 7 or 8 years now and I have a local authority flat, it's got serious damp problems, even black mould on the walls but it's home. I feel so lucky just to have a home and be free of drugs. Praise God because everything I have now is through Him.

When I was homeless I learned that the most kindess people In this world are the ones who have very little because those are the very same people who will offer what little they have.

Back when I didn't speak English, I'd listen to this song and think it was a love song...
One eternity later, I stumbled upon it again and the lyrics hit me like a ton of bricks.

I'm leaving this comment here so whenever somebody likes this I'll come back and listen to this masterpiece again. ❤

Many people missed the true meaning of this song, have a heart. Humans turn the other cheek so they do not have to deal with other peoples sorrows. It is easy for humans to just walk away. Do something for another human is closer to God. You have to mean it from your heart do not be fake.

I was homeless after much success. As a disabled veteran, I realized how many people dislike us. I'm well now but will never forget my despair.

I'm a Spanish native speaker. When I was learning English, this was one of the first songs I have learned. I wonder if teachers still teach this song to their students... I hope so...

Dear God Bless the homeless 🙏 and to all those struggling to make it.
I'm disabled and terminally ill but if and when I'm able I help the homeless.
I had to start from scratch on my own and I thank God for what I do have.

I'm 20 years old and I heard this song for the first time back when I was 13 when my English teacher put this in class so we could write the lyrics . I never realized the powerful message of this song until the last 3 years where my family and I had it rough economically. Moving on from place to place because we couldnt pay anything and broke AF. This just tells me how much we should appreciate things when we have them and not take everything for granted .

Out giving lunches & supplies last week, l found an old woman & her dog living in the timber behind a grocery store. Went back again yesterday. She's gotta be over 75. If that doesn't screw ya up, nothing will. Got to pray with her. UTI was coming on her & a disc pressing her spine. Surely JESUS had mercy. HE'S that way, you know. 4/1/23

Phil was criticised for composing this song... How a millonaire like Phil could write about homeless? ... well.. I think regardless of how much money Phil would have, this song is about while you have food and a home, there are tons of people with nothing to eat or any shelter... It´s about appreciate what we have and be more compassionate to the Great Bass line by Leland Sklar BTW!

Saw a homeless man this morning outside of Walmart with his head in his hands. This song came to mind. I fed him and shared some encouraging scriptures. He gave me a hug! My heart is spilling over with fullness ❤️

This is a self reflecting song. As a Christian, I find this song as one of the most transcendent lyrics of what the Gospel is all about. Beautiful composition ...just a master piece.

Tears keeps flowing in my eyes everytime when I listened this song. I wish that I became a billionaire so I could help those homeless people. I hope someday no more walls separate us because we are all the same in the eyes of our creator.
