Open Your Eyes [Splatoon Animation]

Meet Rachel, an Elite Octoling Soldier who seems to have left Octo Valley behind. As she makes her way to Inkopolis voices from her past continue to haunt her to this day.
This takes place between the events of Splatoon 1 and 2.

When I made this animation my goal was to make something small and cinematic. It was animated with Blender and rendered using cycles.

In a way, kind of teaches and shows us how soldiers who have been through a lot of combat, have a hard time reverting to civilian life because they still have those memories of fighting losing friends in the battlefield This octoling was lucky to be able to find peace Once she was no longer the soldier.

I know everyone loves Eight, but it's also interesting to think about all the soldiers that had escaped Octavio control.

Like, Eight is practically one of the closest friends with Marina and Pearl, so in a sense she has two "protectors".

But what about all the other Octolings? Imagine starting a new life in a society where you were an enemy in war.

The result of this came out wonderfully, both the environment, the setting, the audio, the faint sounds just pull the ambience together very well, and still can't get over on how Rachel's design came out absolutely amazingly! Her design is just soo fitting for her and it's so good, you nailed her wonderfully!! QWQ

Really can't wait to see how much more story development you end up doing with her, seeing Rachel come to life from the Blender viewport really hits differently ^w^ ✨✨✨✨

(Such a shame Blender didn't work properly for the weapon simulation planned at first, Blender spaghetti X3)

The transition from her taking her goggles' off and seeing the real world is truly beautiful. Very metaphorical and well animated. I can tell you took your time getting all of the movements right with her facial expressions. Show dont tell is an important tool in storytelling and you pulled it off spectacularly. Amazing job.
