Demystifying Data Filtration

- I think this is the 🔑 feature of Tokyo.
- When I found this I dug into how it worked. Here's what I found.
- For each Data Filtration Record where the subject condition is false, then the data filter is applied as a SQL query to query.
- Example: you have a data filtration records, one where the subject condition is logged in user is a member of the HR group, When Henry from HR logs in, he's a member of the HR group, so the subject condition is true, no SQL will be added to his query. When Isaac from IT logs in, he's not a member of HR and his query will append a group is not HR (matching the data filter).

- Templates are fantastic and can solve loads of problems. Kieran only goes into how to track their usage but they are one of my top 5 features of ServiceNow.
- Measuring Template usage can be really useful if you wanted to use that data to see what templates make work easier for folks or maybe identify better default values for things.
- His post touch's on another topic which I find amazing. Configuration vs Customization and how it shouldn't be the question but rather is this work worth the time and the maintenance.

Main difference between SNUG meetups and Dev meetups is SNUGs are generally more ... general. Like SNUGs, the topics can range from products to processes across the entire platform. Dev meetups focus on developer topics, not so much products or ITIL stuff. Hope that helps.
