Our Sad Rat Snake Clutch of 2021 :(

Aw man... This year's rat snake clutches were pretty much nonexistent with all odds against us. The clutch was buried under the substrate and therefore not found right away, most of the eggs went bad, and only one of the eggs that made it full term actually made it :( But he's a cutie at least!! Gotta look at the bright side :)

Since my family won’t let me have a pet snake I never thought I would have to use the skills I learn in your videos but boy was I wrong! Knowing so much now about snake behavior identification and handling really helped me when a random black snake popped up in my bathtub(for the second time)

Love your channel! Really awesome content every time! Sorry that you had a bad time with this clutch. Question: Would it be worth hanging onto the one that did hatch because it had a strong egg that survived even in poor conditions? Or do you think this was "luck of the draw"? I find the genetics stuff you do and especially with breeding for health over morphs. Also, why do you think the female neglected the lay-box (or was it not in the enclosure yet)?
