After 3 years wishing for these limelight hydrangeas after watching this video I got 5 today!!!! A dream come true... 🙂 I never thought I would ever see one in real life. So beyond thrilled. I’m obsessed with Proven Winners now after watching Garden Answer for 4 years. They ARE the best!!! Thank you Laura and Aaron!!!

Your comment—that the things you planted last year didn't do all that great planted just in native conditions—made me recall what I've been taught about my area. I'm in upstate South Carolina (zone 7a). When we plant perennials we say, "First year, they sleep; second year, they creep; third year, they leap." You're right. It's always better to know your zone!

Yes, these limelight’s are very stylish. I am new to gardening but this is a plant that is on my list.

I totally just ordered one for my mother's birthday. She loves hydrangeas and I think she would love the color changes over the seasons. Thanks for the idea!!

I'm going plant a hedge of these in full sun here in hot and humid southeast Alabama. But I'm waiting until fall, since they'll be in such an intense sun situation. Can't wait to see them in all their glory next year! And tell Aaron he's nailed the background music again!

I have these mixed in with other varieties of hydrangeas. They really do take over. I will trim back this winter!

I have a Lime Light and love it but I didn't realize how pretty it could get when they turn pinkish until I saw the picture you had in the video. I can't wait!

I just went down to check my garden center and they still had these so I had to grab some. So excited to get mine planted. Yours are beautiful!

I have a limelight that I can see from my kitchen sink and I must say it is the star of my garden. It sits at the end of the garden bed and is the full height of 8ft tall. A few years into it, I trimmed up the bottom to put in more tree form and it made me love it even more, becasue I underplanted it with Blackberry Ice Heuchera. Then I planted a PeeGee and Pinky Winky standard to make a bit of a triagle along my back patio. Now that I know how to fertilize them, I can start taking better care of them! Thank you for your videos

Laura,
So glad you brought up about amending your soil with the compost, since I live in Boise and have been doing that for years. I think that the few things I was planting lately, may not have gotten that compost this year, since I have been watching your channel. Good reminder to check out local suggestions, too!  I appreciate your suggestions...

I love your videos, thanks!!! I also love limelights. I have some planted along our sidewalk. In the late fall I prune back my 8' limelights to about 3' tall and sting Christmas lights on them. They always grow back the following summer to 8". I also mix in vanilla strawberry and pink diamond hydrangea. Beautiful mix!

I love hydrangeas. I've been wanting to plant one but it's been really busy and I don't have time to do a lot of things. I can't wait to see your July garden tour and see how everything is growing in your garden!

Great information once again. Love the way you film flowers up close, everything looks beautiful. And isn't that why we love to garden?

Love the look of your soil. The fact that you use a shovel to dig holes is incredible to me. In my garden I use a mattock and a spade. We have volcanic soil that is very old and eroded with a very high iron content and a very clayey. The soil is actually orange/red with pH is 6.5 to 7 which is good for most things. So lots of compost and mulch to keep things happy. I wish I had your soil.
