What if you go back in time and hook-up with your grandma because you didn't know it was your grandma and she gets pregnant? Gotta love Futurama

LOL! I was in 5th Grade (1993) when I came up with this "paradox" (I had never even heard of it). I asked my fellow students and a few of my teachers, and none of them understood what I was talking about. I asked, "What would happen if I Time Travelled and killed my grandpa. Would I still exist or would I stop existing?" Then, I explained the whole concept of me killing my grandpa which means I don't exist...but, since I don't exist, it means I could NOT go back to kill my grandpa...which means I DO exist...which means I COULD go back in time and kill my grandpa...which means I DON'T exist...and, the cycle would repeat itself.
The next thought which came to mind was the solution to this paradox: If I went back and killed my grandpa...a type of blackhole-like void would appear halfway in Time between THE MOMENT I killed my grandpa in the past, and THE MOMENT I was conceived (sperm meets egg in the relative future). It would spread out in both directions in time until it consumed all of time and space (past, present and future).
And, all of these thoughts came to me because my sister accidentally sat on a shampoo bottle (it was laying sideways, and it made a farting noise when she sat on it).

I like the Futurama explanation of the grandfather paradox. Phillip Jeffries I accidentally gets his grandfather killed in atomic test experiment, and accidentally sleeps with his grandmother, creating him restoring the timeline to a some kind of form. As a result, village a fry is born without a certain part of the functioning brain, which allows him to save the future from the brain features. So in that scenario, it all works out. But could such a scenario actually occur in real life. And if so, would you accidentally or purposely sleep with your past relative to preserve your future?

Dragon ball Z did the same thing at the end of the android saga u can go back to your timeline but u can't go forward to the new timeline that u started

As I've posted on other sites I don't think that the problem would arise if particle transportation hasn't been resolved. Yes you could see gramps but it would be a hologram, no particles, I also think that ghost's are holograms, it's all to do with light, vision but no substance

I have come up with my own paradox, I thought in theory that if you could bore a hole through the centre of the earth and then climb up a ladder, at which point would you be climbing down while still climbing up the ladder.?

One of the underlying sub plot lines in Futurama is that when Fry and the gang went back in time to Roswell how Fry's grandfather died in a nuclear test and Fry ended in bed with his future grandmother, becoming his own grandfather/grandson and bender being buried over 2000 yrs.

Yeah, but if you create a grandfather paradox, don't you create the world that you never existed in while going back to your world? I mean, this is hair hurt hard to comprehend. But you go back in time, creating the new universe. Don't both worlds exist? Why would you not go back to your world? Unless the new world takes the place of the old one. I am so confuse-ed.

🤦🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️ I don’t watch the show but the grandfather paradox isn’t from the show. I hate when ppl say things like this. I see it a lot with genZ & tik tok or fortnite, which are both trashy

Surely a show or movie has done it where you are you but your looks change on the fly.

This can't be a grandfather paradox because it isn't a infinite loop. In the show they are born, cause a apocalypse, go back in time, and then they're killed before they are born and travel to the present. In no way is the grandfather paradox created because the actions don't reloop to the beginning of the loop meaning that A. Them being there when they're dead is the problem or B. They created a new paradox.

It doesn't even make sense in this context. Like, in Season 2 they were literally existing 20 years before they were even born and while their mothers were probably young children, so why didn't any kind of paradox happen then? If nothing happened to them other than Viktor ending the world again, why would the grandfather paradox happen in an alternate universe when they _still_ shouldn't have existed?

The biggest paradox is the retconning of Ellen pages female character!
