honestly i cannot even say anything as I've been played pokemon for 12 years almost every day and I've not found a single shiny ever. Not even the times I tried to do it, I would just get WAY over the base chance and never get it until i gave up.

The usage of "Hunt" can refer to the concept of specifically looking for something. When you say you're hunting down your phone that you lost, you're not going to destroy it right after. Speedrunners are actually shiny killers, not hunters.
