Audi R8 Running Costs: Long-Term Maintenance & Ownership

Before owning my 2014 Audi R8, I always wondered how much it costs to upkeep a supercar. It's one thing to finance and own it, but what are the maintenance and repairs expensive?

The R8 is known as a pretty reliable supercar. In terms of maintenance, it's relatively cheap but there are some common issues you may encounter. The air conditioning compressor is known to fail often. And the magnetic ride suspension is known to leak. These two issues can cost thousands of dollars to fix. Aside from that, it's a pretty reliable car!

I've owned mine for a year now, no problems to report yet. Let's pray to God it stays this way.

I've had my 2011 v10 r8 since new. Currently less than 7k miles. Besides tires wearing fast, I haven't paid for anything 'extra', just regular maintenance like any other car. The A/C did fail but was replaced under warranty. I buy the Audi car care package thingy or whatever it's called as the 'cost of owning a supercar' and don't have to worry about it. Knowing I would be going to an Audi service department instead of a Lambo or Ferrari service department was one of the main reason for choosing the Audi.

Keep posting videos about the R8 please. You are the only one I can find that really drives it, dosen't review after 2, 000 miles and never make another video, or isn't a car reviewer. Currently in a c43 amg and really want an R8 V10 or huracan, plan on making the move next year as I'll be done with school and need to work for experience before graduate school

I currently own a 1966 chevy C10! Now let me tell you! It runs heavy and she is a chevy! Now shes a smoker on short runs but cant keep up on the long race. She leaks transmission oil and some engine oil. However before I drive it, I check the fluid and add oil to it.

I think if I had to replace even one magnetic shock, I would go with a coilover conversion. Which is most cases, is cheaper than replacing even 1 shock. The A/C compressor, probably a good Audi Indy Shop.

I wouldn’t buy any super car without a very very long warranty..and I’d continue to renew it as long as I was allowed too do so.

Sounds like it's cheaper and offers an immense piece of mind by purchasing extended warranty. Sounds like the cost of one expensive R8 repair will pay for the warranty itself, plus the piece of mind is PRICELESS

good information as I have been looking at these after selling my 21 Corvette. I have no idea how these, Ferrari, or Lambo used 125k type cars sell at all given a brand new 23 vett with same or better performance sells at 85k well equipped with warranty and not remotley close maint costs . guess will continue to wait for my 23 vett. they must be killing this market.

$650 is a great deal!

I spend about $500/YR on parts only maintaining my 2002 Toyota SUV. Haha

Any ideas of v8 compares to v10 in terms of maintenance? Thanks in advance

Recently been plotting on an R8 in the not so distant future. Was a little worried about overall cost but it’s actually on par with my X6M despite being a more expensive car

NSX is the cheapest supercar to maintain.

is there a significant difference in maintenance/reliability between the V8 vs V10?

I currently own an i8 roadster, would you say an r8 cheaper to maintain (oil change/repair) than that because I’m considering switching.
