I feel fairly confident that the corporations involved in food production and distribution are also seeing record profits!

I've tripled the size of my garden this year. Not enough to feed the family, but supplements my grocery needs and provides a little safety net in case things get worse.

Don’t know what people are worried about. Our overlords have already told us “let them eat Teslas”

Funny thing about food prices is that these higher rates never seem to trickle down to the Farmers who grow and raise said food.

This desaster is by design of the IMF... When contries accept loans from the IMF they are expected not only to impose austerity but they are expected to import their food....

WION reported China buying massive amounts of wheat last year, which is when fertilizer and pesticide prices were already going up. Since the fertilizer sanctions were lifted in Rule 6A, I kinda think this is price gouging.

Buckle up. Fertilizer prices tripled from planting last year, diesel cost twice as much. Expect food prices in the US to go up 50 to 100 percent.

Remember these guys said inflation was transitory. They laughed and bragged how they were both economics majors in college.

vegetable oils getting more expensive is a good thing, those products are unfit for human consumption

The US is a leading exporter of grain products with the exception of rice. The price of grains is largely influenced by speculation in futures markets (as are energy products). An investigation of futures market purchases made in advance to Russia's invasion of Ukraine would most likely reveal insider's knowledge by the very transnational corporate entities who formulate US' domestic and foreign policies. The Biden administration made a big show of giving seniors a 6% cost of living increase in their social security while implementing polices that offset the purchase power of that increase by 35% with a net gain of -29% to date. meanwhile, those who were pre-positioned in the global marketplace have reaped huge profits from nurturing the false public perception that Ukraine's inclusion in NATO was a foregone conclusion. War is a racket.

China foresaw the food shortages 6 months ago when everyone was advised to begin stocking up on food.
They also began storing 50% of the world's grain.
Obviously America was paying attention to their own citizens' welfare in the same way.

Weird, I've read that frozen vegetables are likely better than "fresh" in terms of vitamin retention.

Glad we're making those moves to become more self-sufficient.

I’m an American from south east and living in Italy. Food costs have not increased much here. Italy has strong laws that have kept corporate farming from over taking small farms.

The problem in America in regards to the cost of food is an anti-trust issue, I.e. monopolies.

Stop buying from large supermarket chains, grow as much as you can of produce and if you’re lucky enough to have farmer’s markets near you shop there.

Learn to preserve the spring and summer fruits.

Learn to Make you’re own breads and if you like meat you have two choices, learn to hunt or befriend a hunter.

West of the Rockies? Y’all fuqed. Severe drought will not be ending anytime soon and the dams that generate electricity and provide water to drink and for crops, are drying up because of mismanagement.

I hear that many in America are not taking this situation seriously and if you still live in a city after Covid, what the hell were you thinking?!

I think you mean processed food, not frozen food. Frozen fruits and veg have the same nutritional value as fresh.
