Reverse Cobra Paraglider Launch in 20knots

Flow XCRacer loaded up at 3/4 of it's weight range. The trim speed of this wing is 21kn/39kmh, when the glider is up 50 pct speedbar is applied and the glider flies off at walking pace. without speedbar it would hover in place at 21kn.

Some people do not understand what the guy is doing "holding" the harness from behind. He is a redundancy, a safety back up. He doesn't actually apply any force, he is mirroring the movements of the pilot, following him, not slowing him down, not pulling, he is there if something goes wrong. Which in this case, nothing went wrong, so if he wasn't there the take off would be exactly the same.

Its the same with reserves no? You carry one every time you fly, you don't throw it every time do you? But its there if you need it.

Yeh that was legit. I wouldn't have someone helping me though ug! I can fly an oversized high-B in that but do get picked up sometimes.

As another poster mentions clearly the wind speed (at wing height so it would be typically less at ground level) is clearly a reasonable amount below 'trim speed' (typical trim = 20kts = 24mph = 38km/h = 10 m/s) personally I wouldn't guess as low as 13, perhaps nearer to 15-16kts range, certainly no need for assistance! That all said it was a nice smooth launch 🙂

You know this is strong wind when everyone just fly in front of the sand dunes.

With these winds we just launch from the bottom, bit safer and easier.

What is the size of the wing he is flying?

How did you guesstimate the wind strength?

Простите, но при умелом старте коброй, даже в 20 kts помошники не нужны... Иначе какой смысл в кобре? 😎

Nicely done but with gloves would be nicer...

Ug, you really want to get SUPER training so you can get all the pieces of glider control correct. You are literally weightshifting backwards making it 10 times harder on yourself. If you simply did it correctly all the load would go away and you wouldn't need other people getting drug behind you. You were simply doing it wrong and backwards. Take SUPER training and your skills will jump to a level very few acting as instructors even comprehend.
