The unbelievable true story.

Daisy Ridley stars as the accomplished swimmer who was born to immigrant parents in New York City in 1905. Through the steadfast support of her older sister and supportive trainers, she overcame adversity and the animosity of a patriarchal society to rise through the ranks of the Olympic swimming team and complete the staggering achievement – a 21-mile trek from France to England. “Young Woman and the Sea,” which also stars Tilda Cobham-Hervey, Stephen Graham, Kim Bodnia, Christopher Eccleston, Jeanette Hain, Sian Clifford, and Glenn Fleshler, is directed by Joachim Rønning and written by Jeff Nathanson, based on the book “Young Woman and the Sea: How Trudy Ederle Conquered the English Channel and Inspired the World” by Glenn Stout. The producers are Jerry Bruckheimer, Chad Oman, and Jeff Nathanson, with John G. Scotti, Daisy Ridley, and Joachim Rønning serving as executive producers.

Finally, a live-action Disney movie that is not a remake.

This movie and story were incredible! I hadn't heard of Trudy's story before, but the amount of adversities she faced to accomplish all that she did were astounding. I highly recommend everyone see this film.

Might be Daisy's best film since the sequel trilogy ended

While the film seems reminiscent to those inspirational sports dramas Disney used to make back in the 90s and 2000s like Remember the Titans, Miracle, and Iron Will; But in a way, I couldn’t help but think about how this movie reminds of Amblimation’s Balto where it’s an underdog story (no pun intended) about triumph over adversity and against incredible odds through inner strength for loved ones.

This true story came after the Olympic Games in Paris a century ago in 1924. Trudy is one of my Olympic heroes who turned against and proved the patriarchal society wrong by swimming across 29 miles from Paris to English Channel. I'm fully supported by this.

The only really UNBELIEVABLE part of all this is that they released this as a DRAMA.... not as a 'Còmèdy' .... what an absolute Klunker

Are there sharks in this movie, because they would take it to new heights?

It's absolutely precious how they try to inject feminism into films like this where they portray women as putting men in their place. Of course, a simple google search reveals that a man crossed the English Channel more than half a century before this woman did it so when you're only good when compared with other women, you prove the father in this film right.

''A woman of that time'', so cool to hear that. We have to get it in our heads that women now don't get this treatment anymore, like they did back here, so its refreshing to hear the lovely Daisy Ridley say that here, i respect her even more now. I just wish the brunt of woke actresses said they same, but no its usually 'we deserve equality', you have it, this isn't the 1920s now, its 2024. No doubt in some places on Earth, women are treated like crap still, but in the US, UK, brunt of Europe, South America, Australia, parts of Asia, you are treated the same as men.

Disney bots out in force in the comments, but the down vote ratio doesn't lie.
