Another good way to make money are breeding and selling exhibit creatures i find the spiders and forest scorpions to be an excellent way to make a good profit. They breed relatively quickly produce a good number of offspring and sell for a good chunk especially if they are gold ribbon.

Kinda makes sense, most of the popular animals are also the expensivest, so is a bad idea to just start with those.
I think a good starting zoo would have like two or three small enclosures and one large that can housed many compatible species, or instead a really popular one for that matter.

Even though I'm already rather good at Planet Zoo, I still enjoyed how you solved my previous starting issues in less than 2 minutes.
For some reason, I thought it was a good idea (at the beginning) to put as much animals in 1 habitat and build donation bins literally everywhere I possibly could, (LoL)

Build 4 exhibits or more, buy a couple of titan beetle for each. Research them to max. Sell their babies everynow and then. Profit.

Great tips, I gotta say. I just started playing the game, and I'm sure it'll become helpful in my Zoo projects moving forward. Thanks.

there are a couple of career scenario's where they start you off with a trap. Like 'here, have three elephants and place them', when your zoo is utterly incapable of providing for them
That quickly taught me about feeding cost

Other animals to avoid early game I found: Primates, they also have extremely high feeding costs. And under 1000 prestige animals. Like flamingos or peacocks. They don’t have the rating to bring in enough guests.

I just bought planet zoo this morning. Been playing it all day. Tried to do a franchise zoo and went bankrupt basically instantly 😂 so this video actually helped a little bit. Thx 👍

I haven’t been able to play the game for like two months now, my pc is being a jerk. But I enjoy watching your videos still.

For breeding exhibit animals, get ones that are easier for you to get a mating pair AND one that breeds a lot quicker too. If you doing a theme then it will be a bit more tricker too

I'd like to share some internet wisdom with this comment section, and you too Paws!

I made a fun little discovery, in my own research on easy ways to make money when you're broke as hell.... and that is, that BUTTERFLIES are the key to early money! Or they're at least one method. Haven't tried it with other exhibit animals yet!
But ayo, here- a solid breeding population of all four kinds of Butterflies in the one exhibit, and it seems that people will pay *oodles* to see 'em! Especially as far as donations go, and _boy_ does it add up fast.

There's some good stuff in here I didn't even consider! Thank you so much!

Thanks for the video.

So I guess my main mistake is starting with wolves and too much staff then? I started in sandbox with as only difference to normal more money so I can see how things go, but I just keep losing money. The wolves require a big habitat and eat meat so I guess they are expensive, but I figured the donations would do the trick as they're not as expensive as the big cats for example (saw that in a sheet I found).
But while I started with only 1 employee of all kinds except the security guard and entertainer, I hired an entertainer quickly because guests keep complaining that theyre not educated (and that keeps happening), I hired a second keeper and vet once I got a few exhibits because the staff I had complained about high workload. I hired extra vendors after placing my drinks and food stands because their workload was too high as well. Extra caretakers because for some reason they just don't pick up enough of the litter. They seem pretty lazy. I placed bins, got 3 caretakers and still guests complain about litter. And my park is just wolves and 3 exhibits; pretty small.

Another thing is that I got as tip to get exhibit animals as they breed quick and you can sell the offspring. But none of them have even mated yet and the Boas were mature from the start and we're 4 years in now since I got them (7 years since I got the wolves, who finally became alphas and mated after 3 years).

So, how do you keep staff count low when there's continuous complaints from all sides? And I assume that when I place a second exhibit, I would need another keeper and vet etc. because otherwise they have to do too much and walk too far. I don't see how I can keep staff count low without problems. I have been training them bit by bit, but isn't it also true that while 1 is training, they can't attend to other things? In that case, don't you need 2 at minimum so 1 can train and 1 can do the job?

Also, I placed an animal talks and it has seen 0 use in 5 years. Not sure how that works.

One last thing, not really about management but just fun: how can I change the names of the items sold in shops? I don't really want to use the game's default names for drinks and such. I am fairly sure you could rename things in Coaster. Is it not possible in Zoo? I couldn't figure it out :( it's nice to rename things according to themes imo.

I restarted my zoo because of the money problem. By the way I have a pangolin and the other habitat is for a dwarf caiman. Thanks I really need that.

I definatly hire too many staff and had no idea you can train them!

NIce. I really enjoy your videos and im still in the very beginning tutorial so yah im new lol. Just a quick question. If those big cats such as Lions, Tigers are so costly you can never benefit from having them or are they just for decoration when u are like very rich?

Thank you so much it helped me a lot. 👍

my franchise zoo only has six habitats but I have to keep like twice as many keepers almost just so my animals don’t starve to death. They’re almost fully trained I have two nearby keeper huts and have work zones.

When I play Zoo Tycoon 2, I often put multiple habitat gates in one habitat so the keepers don't have to backtrack and go the long way around to a neighboring habitat. Is it possible to do this in Planet Zoo, or does it only allow one gate per habitat?

Also...Employees do not pay more than necessary, money income from toilets and EC machines.
