I agree, but for running, it Helps a lot for me. It stretches out your hip muscles before running so you dont get side cramps while running

You are correct. Box jumps are not as effective as max effort approach jumps.

I got a 40-inch vertical just with explosive jump box exercises in 1.5 year. In the beginning, I had a 15-inch vertical. Not just with the box jumps but it help me very wel❤❤❤

I agree, but the fact that you think you can’t fix this by just jumping with a straight leg the entire time and lowering the box to work on technique is as effective and if you have knee pain when landing due to injuries this can be effective

Regular box jumps won't do much, but weighted box jumps are a different story. I did weighted box jumps for only a couple of months, and I went from barely being able to touch the rim of a basketball hoop with a running start to being able to hang on the rim with a standing jump. Box jumps really do help your vertical.

You can do box jumps with straight legs though, this can be advantageous for injury prone athletes. If your healthy defenitively try touch rim or dunk

Just increase the height of the box and put more emphasis on jumping to focus on vertical flexibility and stability

Box jump removes the landing portion of the jump, making the training more Concentric-oriented. It's good for jump technique fix. Max approach jump is more specific, also, since the landing is higher, you actually train your leg to land from that height. Also depth jump and drop jump train the eccentric portion of the jump and also throws in a reactive quality into training, it's much better.

Also, look into Supramaximal Eccentric Training. It's a little bit unorthodox but magically works.

I can confirm as over the past few months, I've been trying to increase my vertical and something I would do often is just going up and jumping to touch the net, and I went from not really being able to touch net to around halfway to rim in just a few months.

for growing you vert you should be doing a variety of exercises including both box jumps n actually trying to dunk n ur not suposed to tuck ur legs anyways ppl that do that are wrong

I never thought that box jumps helped,
I have a hella high box jump, but thats mostly because I can lift by legs up easily.
