Hell no. Most of the Olympians don't have that kind of money. They're just happy to be there. There's nothing wrong with staying at the Village but if you had that kind of money would you? The only thing Team USA is missing is the full Olympic experience

Reportedly the Olympic village does not have air conditioning. That makes it uninhabitable so the basketball team is quite right to seek better lodging.

There’s a great security issue-Why would you want to stay somewhere you know you’re not safe-and the bed that they provided look like it’s for little kids. These players are 6 feet plus basketball players and they require high Security measures to be in place. I don’t blame them. I wouldn’t stay there either. France just showed us their low-grade butt. What were they thinking? those beds look like they sleep 6to12 year old who haven’t hit a growth spurt !😂 these guys have to get a good night rest in a comfortable bed so they can get up and play to the best of their abilities and skills and talents. Can you imagine sleeping on those beds at the height and size of a basketball player and waking up feeling refreshed after lousy night sleep lack of rest. They have money and they can stay wherever they so choose and they can pay for their own security-so kudos to the basketball players and anyone else in the Olympics who chose to stay elsewhere. As long as you get to the games and perform the way you were expected- where you lay your head at is your business. Making a mountain out of a mole hill.!
