I have traveled the same route on Amtrak---several times, always in a roomette. It is much less expensive for exactly the same route and Amtrak's food is excellent. I have always been impressed with the helpfulness and cordiality of the staff. For me, sleeping on the train is a highlight. So, there is no way that I can justify the exorbitant price of the Mountaineer. But I did enjoy the vid!!

Yes, the elephant in the room is the price but it is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. As for the video, it was simply amazing and some great camera work.

This is one of your best videos to date. You have done great work in the past. It just keeps getting better. I honestly thought that the Rocky Mountaineer double decker trains were the same height as Amtrak's Superliners. You just proved me wrong with this video. It's been a pleasure watching. Looking forward to more.

Of all the videos you've posted, this one is by far your most scenic and fabulous production yet. I watched the video fullscreen on my 27" iMac while wearing noise cancelling headphones. I almost felt like I was on the train with you. With the windows so sparkling clean (unlike Amtrak) the views you captured were outstandingly gorgeous. My wife and I were on the California Zephyr in May, 2023 going from Chicago to Emeryville. Unfortunately, rain washed out the tracks west of Denver and we were put on a bus to Grand Junction, missing the most scenic portion of the trip (and the main reason we took the California Zephyr). Will we take that portion on Amtrak or the Rocky Mountaineer? Only time, and budget, will tell. Thank you, once again, for a stunning video.

1:49 my Great-Grandmother, being an Irish Edwardian lady of the time, travelled from Co. Tipperary by train to Queenstown (Cobh), boarded the liners to New York and travelled across America by train as far west as she could go, possibly Los Angeles or San Francisco - she would be most impressed by this luxury train, as she would have made part of her journey through the Wild West in a horse-drawn coach

Yes I agree that this video completely lived to this amazing route! Thanks for covering this train and scenery so well and it's great to see through clear windows! Also thanks for the tip on discounts.

Even though I’m more interested in riding RM’s Canadian routes, I have to say the scenery in summer is just as incredible as when I rode the Zephyr in winter. Definitely want to ride in summer whenever I get the chance.

That reverse move in the beginning literally reminds me and is just like the one we do here on my own road to pull ahead and out onto the CapMetro main

Nice - great they allow passengers to shoot out the dutch doors. You can do the open platforms on Alaska RR as well. Only the Washington bureaucrats say it’s unsafe and prohibited on Amtrak.

Here's an idea: perhaps Amtrak should schedule with the freight companies nighttime layovers. Not only is this a time where freight having priority is nice, it allows for easier sleeping thanks to the train not moving - and none of the scenery is missed either way!

I know this train is a very scenic ride, but in my opinion, and not many people will agree, it's impossible to beet the Southwest Chief.

Definitely a bucket list experience. Although I have driven Denver through Glenwood Canyon and beyond, I’d do either the Rocky Mountaineer or at least the Zephyr for the train experience.
