Methodologies provide frameworks to help you to organize your project’s initiating, planning, executing, monitoring, and closing processes. Waterfall, Agile, Lean, Extreme Programming, Six Sigma are common methodologies. Although both methodologies serve the same purpose, their software development life cycle (SDLC) are different.

The main difference between Agile and Waterfall is that Waterfall is a linear aaproach of working that requires the team to complete each project phase before moving to the next step. On the other hand Agile encourages the team to work simultaneously on different phases of the project.
