Company Profile

Founded in 1479, pewag is the oldest and one of the world’s leading chain manufacturers. Renowned for its snow and traction chains across Europe, the company has built its product range based around snow and forestry chains, hoist and conveyor chains, lifting and lashing chains and tyre protection chains.

With its distinguished five-hundred-year history, pewag has evolved from a small and modest company into a global organisation with 12 production sites, 36 sales sites and other locations in Europe, America, Africa and Australia. In addition to its numerous locations, pewag, as an international company, relies on a strong and professional partner network. These collaborations currently provide optimal customer service in over 100 countries around the world.

Headquartered in Austria, pewag opened its first Australian office in December 2012 in Wollongong, New South Wales, after dealing with customers through its distributors for the previous 30 years. pewag Australia Pty Ltd provides a high level of service, sales and support to customers within Australia, New Zealand, New Caledonia, PNG and Fiji.

Continuing its expansion, pewag opened a second office in Welshpool, Western Australia in May 2015. The Perth office is able to house the complete range and sizes of tyre protection chains to ensure immediate supply for pewag’s Western Australian customers and will support the future growth of the lifting and conveyor aspects of the business.

Tyre Protection Chains

Pewag is the manufacturer of high quality european made tyre protection chains, from underground equipment beyond three kilometres below the surface to the world’s largest loader - the Letourneau Loader L2350. We have the largest furnaces in the industry and the only cryogenically tyre protection chains treatment process which enables us to manufacture leading Tyre Protection chains worldwide. Across the globe, pewag chains are used on all seven continents ranging from providing traction in Antarctica at -50°C, to protecting tyres against hot slag within furnaces at over +1000°C.

Tyre protection chains are predominantly found within the areas of open pit mining, underground mining and tunnelling, quarrying, slag and scrap and across a broad range of traction related applications. Our specialised range of forestry chains have provided much needed solutions to a range of machines where Mother Nature provided it fair share of operational complications.
