Bless the Ocean Network Express for their cute pink shipping containers that flair up an otherwise pretty dull industry. 😅
I still remember when they were founded in 2017. The pink ships were big news here in Belgium!

As a merchant mariner and someone very involved in the maritime sphere, i can say you have created an excellent video on par with the wendover team! You will achieve greatness my friend!

It doesn't ruin the video by any means, but you seem to mix up 20ft and 40ft equivalent containers, micro! Thanks for the great content

Excellent video! Standardized shipping containers are the 20th century equivalent of 19th century standardized parts. It’s also an excellent example of how it’s far less expensive to send stuff over water versus over land, which is critical for understanding why cites develop in certain areas

You just answered one of the questions about the world that bothered me since childhood but were never answered

I must admit, I never thought about what a trade surplus or deficit means in practice.
It makes sense, that containers would pile up on one end (not necessarily where the deficit is - because containers might not be what is imported - e.g. for oil, etc. the logistics might not end up piling up containers on your side, or if your exported goods use more space per dollar in return, there might also be no such pile-up).
Fascinating topic about how to handle this issue!

Even after the shipping containers have reached the end of their usable life they can have all kinds of uses. A school near me has one in their yard that they use to store outdoor maintenance equipment.

Wendover even did a video on a very similar topic and you still made it interesting! No wonder folks keep covering the topic, it spirals out so much that no one creator can cover it all

The insane logistics of logistics is my favourite video title now xD

Love these things. I see them in the woods all the time and wonder about the life they had before being storage in the sticks.
