a while back, about six years ago, we bought a 115 year old farmhouse in Georgia...on a 3 acre pecan farm...absolutly loved the house...but...3400 square foot was a tad much as its just the two of of now that all the children have moved out...and...had we been younger, say in our thirties, renovations would have been easier. We had to take all the eighties renos out ...strip all the paint off the mantles etc etc etc...when my dad passed a year ago we had to move back to florida, mama is 86..and only one brother managed to stop by daily..the couple that bought our farm were elated with what we had gotten accomplished...and promise to send photos of their work. ODDLY, I have never been a fan of farmhouse decor...we always had a cabin...so outside, she was a stunning farmhouse, inside, youd think you stepped into a cabin. 14 foot ceilings and all. heads up...if you are older than fifty dont take on such a project...

Oh my gosh I totally love the tilt out cubby for sponges and brushes by your kitchen sink! Genius idea and I would have one immediately installed in my kitchen if I could. And the “pantry” door to your basement is another genius idea. You and Brian have optimized every inch in your kitchen and I can’t wait to see the final reveal. You are so lucky to both be handy! We are not, and went without a kitchen for 3-4 weeks when we remodeled several years ago, waiting for the contractor and his subs to finish the job. Fortunately, we aren't used to gourmet meals... Two things we don't regret- paying for corner cabinet Lazy Susans, full extension drawers, and after-market pull-out wire baskets in all base cabinets. When we redid our bathrooms last year, we ordered RTA base cabinets and I, a 70- year-old puny senior lady, assembled them all myself, saving a lot of money in shipping and labor, plus the quality was awesome compared to big box cabinetry.

Shannon I love your remodel so far, it looks awesome. I miss those little pull outs by my sink but when I got a new one we had to get rid of ours & those drawers in the cabinets are the BEST. Years ago my father in law put them in my MILs house so we call them papaw drawers & i have several in my kitchen & my husband put some in my daughters kitchen; game changer for sure. I love your lighted up cabinets & those little space cabinets that are really handy & your secret door!!! Can’t wait to see it finished. Kitchen remodels are the worse but the best once done. So happy for you!!!!

You will like those 2 heavy duty drawers that pull out. I have them and they can hold a lot of canned items. I like to write on the top what it is and expiration date on cans.
I put my Tupperware type containers in my lazy Susan so I can see all my sizes and pick from one place.
I also have the fold out in front of my sink, a good place to put small scrubbers.
Enjoy your new kitchen! It is beautiful. We have nice custom oak cabinets from about 20 years ago and they are in need of being resanded. We are taking the plunge from stained to paint and its a bit scary!! I lean toward the white when I look at designs.

My kitchen cabinets got installed last week. Waiting for countertops and sink. Fortunately, I have a temporary sink after 6 1/2 months. Looks beautiful. Can't wait to see your whole kitchen.
