My door switch to open the garage door for my Security+ 2.0 Liftmaster has a learn button on it... same thing as the button on the opener itself?

Is it possible to program this to work with a non-liftmaster gate? Can I not use one of the other buttons for a different product?

Has the learn button ever been black or did my color button fall off? The system is very old at least between 10-15 years light is yellow though.
