My very first wheel, and I gotta admit, my fave wheel, is an S17 that my husband stained purple. When I first got it the sliding guides kinda threw me because I was expecting hooks. Now I love the sliding guides cause you can inch worm your way down the spindle and fill it VERY evenly. Also, a couple of months in the sliders started sliding with very little counterpressure so now they hold when I need them to, but they slide very easily. I love it. Thanks for the lovely, affordable wheel.

Thanks! Great information. The only thing I would add is that to install them initially you want to squeeze the rectangle part to get the wood inserted. Once it is on, then you can do what he says and apply counter pressure on the round part.
