Wasn’t there a person in the Gospel that was casting out demons who wasn’t part of Jesus and the Apostles? The apostles pointed it out to Jesus, and He said to leave the person alone because if the person is not against them, they are for them. Jesus also talks about people casting out demons in His name, but they didn’t have a relationship with Jesus, so He didn’t know them and didn’t receive them at the end. So, it seems people outside of apostolic succession CAN cast out demons. Some are successful and others are not as indicated by the passages in Acts.

This is a question, not an accusation or criticism. If only the apostolic successors can cast out demons then why didn’t Christ condemn outsiders from doing so?

Exorcists have also stated that really the only time a layman can perform an exorcism is a, Father the spiritual head of the household, can command demons and unclean spirits to leave their home and children as the spiritual head has the authority to do so, but so long as he lets grace abide and exercises that authority in faith of Christ.

I'll never forget the day my 8-months-pregnant wife returned home after an 8-hour outing with our family. As she tried to walk to the bedroom, her eyes rolled back, and she passed out on the floor. I was terrified, but thankfully, our baby and her was ultimately okay. Being part of a medical team I instinctively tried to help her by applying ice packs to her face, head, and legs. But it was only when I dabbed the ice in the shape of a cross on her forehead that she miraculously opened her eyes wide, took a deep breath, and regained her color. This happened roughly four times, and each time, I used the cross-shaped ice dabbing to revive her. I can't explain why it worked, but I believe this experience was more than just a coincidence. Now, whenever she passes out, which does happen i know instinctively make the sign of the cross on her forehead with ice, and it become a ritual that's brought me comfort and hope in a terrifying situation. We come from a non denom pentecostal background...I know...but I started reciting the creeds and using the early church as a lens to look through scriptures. My wife is battling her non denom traditions she doesn't like the crossing of self or on her but the thing is regardless what she thinks it works...so this video made me think of this...come on brothers...

Correct me if I'm wrong but there are deliverance prayers for lay people and it's okay for us to pray them, right? Like i can pray for myself and bless my house, but it probably isn't as strong as a priests blessing?
Like the prayer to St Michael the Archangel has exorcising power and lots of other prayers do?

Read the Word of God for yourself. Jesus ordered his disciples to go out and make disciples. He also said that they would cast out demands and heal the sick in His name.
The Catholic church is wrong for teaching to follow it instead of the Word of God. Read the Word for yourself and let the Holy Spirit guide you.

Luke 9:49-50. They can try, but many demons are too high in the hierarchy and you’ll need a bishop/priest with authority for it to be effective. Also, most exorcists have weekly sessions for 1.5 yrs with a genuinely possessed person before they’re fully freed.

Romans 15 16 Paul is a priest. And the catholic priest are successors of the apostles. The catholic deliverance minister can perform deliverance prayer. The Our Father prayer says Deliver Us From Evil.

its not that only the line of the apostles can cast out demons its because tge Jews doing this scevas sons. If you read context pretended to have power but it wasnt true and just because you say the name of Jesus doesnt mean u truly mean it. Seeing the success that Paul had in exorcising demons, the seven sons of Sceva began using a new formula invoking the name of Jesus. They would say to the demon, “In the name of the Jesus whom Paul preaches, I command you to come out” (verse 13).
