Arthur Rubinstein wrote in his autobiography that he never learned the Grieg Concerto because he held it in low regard. His wife knew his record company desperately wanted Arthur to record it, so she bought the sheet music and placed it on his piano. Fortunately for us all he gave in and grew to love it.

I’m currently learning the first movement of this for a competition where the winner gets to play their piece with the youth orchestra, so here’s hoping I win! Lol

What a pianist. Great intro, dramatic, with such clarity.

This and Rach 2 definitely have the most famous intros.

Great and perfect start.from Arthur that 15 seconds I can hear that'll be a great recording!

I think the best (at least most badass) piano introduction is Chopin Piano Concerto 1. The fact that it comes so late just adds to the moment.

Григ, Рубинштейн, Преви'н и Лондонский Симфонический ; лучшей компании трудно себе представить.

It’s a wonderful work. Played it during my University music degree course. Best experience ever! The opening is a true showpiece.

You have no idea how much I love you for putting the piece of music and the pianist's name! Whenever I watch these i trawl the internet for hours trying to find the music!

Totally agree with the title of this posting... and the ending is equally dramatic and stunning!

This piece nails the key of A-minor to the door of heaven.

Quite possibly the most recognizable pieces of music ever written.

Very good example of how the weight of the arm is transferred to the keys, the tone is phenomenal from Rubinstein

Second most iconic after Tchaikovsky’s

The first notes gives me a smile every time Rubinstein's playing is something else.

I played a version completely as written, but instead of the orchestra my teacher played the orchestra part (a version for two piano). It was hard because I had trouble with little to small hands.

Thank you Maestro A. Rubinstein for sharing your magnificent performance of Grieg's Piano Concert, one of my favourite music to play at my grand piano for benefit shows in Europe, USA and Southeast Asia. 🎹❤❤❤🎹

I play trombone. The trombone parts in this are easy/medium. The piano is very, very difficult.
