There are people claiming that the soundtrack is meant to reflect the generation.

While that may be to an extent, the soundtrack should also be a reflection of the game itself.

The Underground games had a lot of hip hop, pop, and some rock music to reflect their atmosphere. Most Wanted had very gritty, heavy metal music to reflect the world.

I haven't played this new game, but from what I can see, the music fails to convey the "feeling" of the world as it should.
