Climate Impacts of Agriculture

Показать описание
Although carbon dioxide from our energy system is the largest human influence on the climate, agriculture is responsible for nearly a quarter of greenhouse gas pollution. These emissions are largely methane and nitrous oxide which have very different chemistries in their origin and fate. This panel will summarise our understanding of these gases, their agricultural sources, what can be done to address them and where further research is focussed.
Chair and speakers:
Chair - Prof Iseult Lynch, University of Birmingham, UK
Dr Michelle Cain, Cranfield University, UK
Prof Sami Ullah University of Birmingham, UK
Prof Joann Whalen McGill University, Canada
Prof Mark Sutton UK Centre for Ecology & Hydrology
This video is just part of a programme showing chemistry’s role in understanding and tackling climate change covering next-generation batteries, hydrogen, agriculture, carbon dioxide utilisation, and more.
