I hope that someday, this game just randomly appears without any press or marketing campaigns. I think Phil would like it to be that way given his retreat from the internet.

I sometimes watch this at 3 in the morning and cry one singular manly tear.

Wow, seems like a cool game, wonder when that’s getting released!

It's been 4 years.

...This trailer was announced 4 years ago, and it's likely Phil worked on Fez 2 for about a year, possibly 2, before he decided to announce it.

That's 5-6 years of development, if... If he decided to do the whole shutdown his social media thing to keep people off his back.

I hope to god that's what he did. I still have high hopes.

8 years now, no hope to see this game ever be released, but the teaser still gives me goosebumps.

It’s still unfortunate that we live in a timeline where a game that could have been a legend amongst indie game titles ceased to be..

Who knows? Maybe one day, someone will make their own Fez II.

If The World Ends With You can get a sequel after 14 years, I still have hope for Fez 2

Especially since one of the main strategies for companies to release sequels of really old games is to port them into newer consoles and see their reception (like how they're trying with ghost trick now), maybe with the switch port and the 2022 interview they did to Phil Fish that says that he still cares about the game, there's still a chance for the sequel to drop. Owlboy took 9 years, maybe development has already started but it's been kept under wraps

I, myself, want to believe so. Good luck Phil, you can do this

Despite all that happened to the creators of the first game, they have to know that it has a lot of fans,
and they would be super happy if FEZ 2 came out..

See, we may hate on Phil Fish, but think about poor old Rich Vreeland. I bet he'd have loved to do another brilliant soundtrack.  Ah well, he's scoring loads of other ace indie games, now.

*"Seriously, shut the f*ck Up about FEZ 2. never going to happen. You don't deserve it."*

-PHIL FISH itself on August 17th 2014 at 5:43 PM.

*Still hyped?*

Phil Fish, You shouldnt just give up like that, haters can be expected, every game dev has em, lots of em, you might feel like litterally all of your audience hates you but there are also a huge amount of people who respect you and really like you and your works.
Fez is a huge inspiration for us all and FEZ 2 wouldve undoubtedly been an even bigger inspiration. You are a good game dev and deserve better, just ignore the haters, dont let them get to ya, and keep doing what you do best: developing great inspirations

Fez was intensly ambitious for an indie dev, even with the support he got. Basically insane. A miracle that he got out of this alive.

The truth is that we just don’t have Fez 2 today (and maybe even a Fez 3) because some stupid people didn’t appreciate and realized the effort in creating Fez and how good it is as an indie game, I really wanted a Fez 2, but it's been 7 years, I lost all hope ...

Sometimes I go back to this video and wonder how happy we would be playing this sequence

Fez was one of the best games I have ever played in my life, for me Fez 2 was a huge loss, I am very sad ...

From a 2022 Eurogamer interview by Robert Purchese:

Q: One thing that struck me while playing Fez was how timeless it felt, and I suppose that's something you can never gauge until it's been around for a while. To me, Fez does fall into the same category as those Nintendo games I remember you saying inspired you. How does that make you feel to hear that?

Phil Fish: It's very flattering, but I don't know if it's true. That's like me grilling one great steak and calling myself a steak master.
I think it owes a lot of that feeling of timelessness to the games that inspired it, and the fact that pixel art is still around and has kind of always been at this point. I don't think it only plays as a retro/nostalgic thing. Good pixel art is still coming out all the time so it still feels contemporary.
Definitely never expected it to have that kind of longevity, though. I'm forever surprised by that.

Q: Do you have any favorite moments in the game, or favorite bits of it?

Phil Fish: I'm particularly proud of the whole intro sequence leading up to the first hub. That first act was the part of the game that saw the most revisions, and ended up being the game's demo. It's the part I've played the most and should be the most sick of, but I'm not.
And of course, the soundtrack. I've always felt it was the best thing about the game.

Q: Are you marking the 10th anniversary of Fez in any way?

Phil Fish: I'm planning a quiet evening of drinking and crying.

Q: Do you ever feel the pull to return to it?

Phil Fish: Yes! I just need 200 million dollars and 5000 developers for 15 years to bring my grandiose vision to life.

If everyone didn't hate on Phil Fish, Fez 2 would happen right now.

Let's say this never will happen.
This is what world is.
This is natural.
This is decided.
No one's fault, but also everyone's fault.

I don't care what people think, Phil doesn't owe anyone anything, he nearly had a breakdown making Fez from all the 'fans' pestering him and bombarding him with hate mail for not getting it finished quick enough, and if he thought he could get that again making Fez II, then I don't blame him for dropping everything and leaving it.
Good on you, Phil. Don't stress yourself out for no reason.

Look at this comment section. Everyone is talking about the same guy. This trailer is gorgeous, nobody seems to notice this. People should really focus on what the piece has to offer to you, rather than the drama with the guys behind it. Fez was awesome, this trailer is fantastic, I'm sad this will never happend
