You are so right about the YouTube algorithm giving weight to watch time and retention. But these are hidden metrics. Others judge a YouTuber by his or her subscribers and the views on the videos so new YouTubers want to reach some decent number here fast. Like they are not happy with 100 subs and 20 views.

Funny because I just watched this video and this is literally what i’ve been stressing about as a new creator. Feeling like there’s a certain level of conformity when it comes to discoverability on YT. All the stress of keyword research to find out what every one is looking for in the search engine has made me feel like my ideas and how I want to express them will be minimized if I take that specific route of focus for growing my channel. All I need to do is just be me. The views and subscribers will come as long as I do that to the best of my ability. Thanks for this post. It confirmed a lot for me!

Hi Annie- I hope you're well! Can you do a video How to tell what is currently being searched. I know you can use the YT search but that just tells what has been searched not what's currently being searched. With AI all in our business Its hard to tell whats popular and being searched vs what's just being served up to me based off watch history and my searches. I hope this makes sense.
