How about the smart wool drying? Can/do you put them in the dryer? Will they shrink? etc.

The Minus 33 merino wool is also a great product.

… you’re the first person I’ve heard say to not wear wool underwear in hot weather…

Interesting, because underwear aren't really intended as an insulative layer. Your ass (and gut) get colder because they are covered in a layer of fat which has no blood circulation. If you hike in colder weather, both tend to be cold(er) to the touch when you're done than your legs, chest, etc. A microscopic layer of wool doesn't change that. Even with thicker wool base layers, they play up the softness and odor-resistance angles, rather than the insulative properties. Their weight determines that.

It's interesting that there are very long vids that go into great detail about the different materials, comparing various properties. But while it's nice to know about sweat-wicking capabilities, that's not the same as telling us they prevent swamp ass. The company that develops underwear that prevents back-crack-to-balls moisture from sitting there when you're done with the hike will get the keys to the kingdom.
