Entropy is a measure of the dispersal of energy in a system; The more disordered a system is, the greater the dispersal of energy is. The greater the entropy, the more disordered a system.

In this tutorial, we will cover the difference in magnitude of the entropy of a system:
(i) of solids, liquids and gases
(ii) for a reaction in which there is a change in the number of gaseous molecules.

This tutorial will also demonstrate the calculation of the entropy change of a system, ∆S, and related quantities for a reaction given the entropies of the reactants and products.

This is a key concept, and you will need to learn it for the a-level chemistry exam.

This is for all A-Level Chemistry AQA, OCR & Edexcel Students.
