JUST IN: MAJOR Brandon Aiyuk DEVELOPMENTS From Adam Schefter & ESPN - The Latest Aiyuk Trade Buzz

Brandon Aiyuk continues to be at the center of the NFL universe and coming up on today’s San Francisco 49ers Report:
- The 49ers are open to trading Aiyuk, a stance that has changed since the start of training camp
- The 49ers are granting Aiyuk permission to negotiate a contract with other teams
- The Patriots and Browns are leading the charge to land Aiyuk, whereas the Commanders and Steelers have dropped out
- What does all of this mean? Let’s dive in, but first… We picked up 51 subscribers on yesterday’s show… Can we top that today? Daily coverage of the Niners, watch party coming up on Saturday night!

According to Mike Reiss, Patriots insider for ESPN:
The San Francisco 49ers are now willing to listen to trade offers for Brandon Aiyuk and have given the star wide receiver permission to negotiate a contract with other teams, sources told ESPN.

It represents a significant change for the 49ers, who did not have the same willingness to listen to trade offers at the start of training camp, sources said.

The New England Patriots and Cleveland Browns both have been in contact with the Niners and are interested in trading for Aiyuk, sources told ESPN. The Pittsburgh Steelers also were interested but do not appear to be a potential trade destination any longer, according to sources.

The Patriots have been attempting to acquire Aiyuk for months, and it has been a slow process from their side, according to sources.

Patriots first-year head coach Jerod Mayo wouldn't confirm that the Patriots have been granted permission to negotiate with Aiyuk, but did acknowledge that he spoke with current New England receiver Kendrick Bourne, because Bourne's name has surfaced in reports as someone who could be included in a potential trade.

The takeaways here:
The 49ers have shifted their thoughts on this, from not wanting to trade him, to being open to it
The deal HAS TO make sense for Aiyuk. Kendrick Bourne is coming off a torn ACL, but a Patriots second round pick could be a top 10 pick in round two
If its a trade for Amari Cooper - Good player, but older, not as good of a blocker
We’re talking about a 26-year-old All-Pro here. You can’t get pennies on the dollar
Draft picks don’t help you right now. Can you get a needle mover right now?
Trading Aiyuk would be dumb - It makes you a worse football team
Commanders and Steelers no longer in pursuit - Those teams seemed to be Aiyuk’s top two destinations
Matt Maiocco continues to say: The ball is in Aiyuk’s court - Does he just want the most money? Or does he want a little less, but in a better situation?
If the 49ers do trade Aiyuk, they might have to be relying on Ricky Pearsall to give them significant production in year 1

Adam Schefter:
This is not a simple trade to execute. Any interested team would have to meet the asking price of Brandon Aiyuk and the 49ers. It’s easy to meet one of those conditions but considerably more complicated to meet both. So far, no one has been able to do it.

My advice to Aiyuk: Quality of life is very important. You can stay with the Niners, win, be happy, continue your harmonious relationship with Brock Purdy, Kyle Shanahan is an elite offensive mind who can put you in a position to still put up massive numbers and you can still make $26 - $28 million per year.

I understand about getting the bag 💰 because this is a business . But to go to a team that’s not going to win now you’re going to be miserable and rich. Aiyuk take 27, 28 mil, win and be happy. Your chance to win a Super Bowl is in San Francisco

It's not just 1-4 million per year but taxes in Cali means another 4-6 million. This is some Pretty significant $$ we talking about.

He did what he was supposed to do, pay him. He is young, has chemistry with the QB, home grown, and will do the dirty work.

If they don't get another #1, no trade. He can play on the rookie deal or not.

Don’t trade him now
Make him play for $14 mil
And then you can renegotiate afterward
If BA does not want to play for 14 mil
Let him sit and get no money 💰

They better offer someone better than Bourne

He's just ripping a page out of Deebo Samuel's book to try and get more money. I really don't care if he leaves at this point. If he's going to act like this every time there's a negotiation he's just going to be a headache the team doesn't need to deal with. They should trade him for picks or a player that is young and on the rise.

Give him a 5 year 140 million dollar contract at 28 million per year. That will satisfy Aiyuk and the Forty Niners and this mess will be over and done with.

Brandon you don't need to be 30 Mil to know you're one of the better receivers in the game, and that's goes the same for Purdy next yr, get top money, no playoffs...Brady was never the highest paid, but he stayed in the playoffs

He forgot to mention the Browns wer a good team despite all of the injuries lol

I think unfortunately the 49ers just can’t pay Aiyuk if they could go back they’d probably pay Aiyuk before Kittle and Deebo but I think the market caught them off guard and you’re hopefully Aiyuk will take a pay cut but this is his time to make the most money and fans are wrong for thinking he should take less to win, you’re not in his position

I believe Jennings can replace Aiyuk. Jennings is clutch and was more productive in the SB. With more reps I think he will be just as good.

You act like Cleveland didn’t just go 11-6 and make the playoffs last year with 5 different QBs. No respect

We want someone who wants to be here. Let him go else where he won’t win with those other teams.

Pittsburgh just jumped back in the trade talks.

I always thought that if you sign a contract, you should honor it. What am I missing? Besides, BA only had 1 season. If I were the Niners, I’ll keep him here until his contract expires. If he wants to hold in, he’s only hurting himself age wise. You sit out a year, your value drops. Same goes for Trent Williams. Otherwise don’t let the door hit you.
