Dugongs and Manatees are two different organisms that share the same order! You could tell the difference by the tail and the mouth! =)

How these animals were mistaken for mermaids is something I'll never understand.

So a seal evolves into a sea cow.
Fantastic work GameFreak.

I love how this video is entitled 'What is a dugong', but makes no attempt to answer that question. No discussion of it's kindred species or evolution. It is important to know how humans affect the environment and the creatures that inhabit it, but when I see 'What is a dugong', I expect more than just an environmental impact piece.

Kudos to Abu Dhabi Environment Agency headed by Secretary General Majid Al Mansouri for taking into account the conservation and protection of the gentle mammals of the sea. Keep up the good work Sir. I will do the same here in my Province at Leyte, Philippines should the population of these sea mammals will migrate/converge here in our waters by putting up a policy to declare the area as a sanctuary thereby educating also our populace the importance of these animals in the marine po kayo Sec Gen Mansouri!!!

Please add closed captioning to your video clips--I can't use them if my deaf students cannot also access the information.

Dugong is a dual-type Water/Ice Pokémon.

It evolves from Seel starting at level 34.

Looks like a cross between a manatee and an elephant with a small trunk. So cute!

I thought Dewgong was just a Pokémon that evolved from Seel. I had no idea Dugongs really existed.

The Dugong (and it's extinct close relative the Steller Sea cow) might look similar to whales but they actually are descendants of the elephant.

They are a key part of that ecosystem! Turning sea grass into energy then fertilizer, it's like they're meant for the sea!

Why have I never heard of this animal until coming across it by chance in a nature documentary this year and I’m in my 40’s?
