Today we headed over to Luis's house to do another install. He ended up on TP-Link equipment primarily because buy Ubiquiti products was just impossible. Everything ended up being sold out each time he tried to make a purchase. This video is primarily making network cables and more network cables. So many cables lol.

7 months later... I'm in the rabbit hole watching this at my local brewery and noticed the vodoo ranger IPA in your vid. Cheers.

I think you made a great choice with TP-Link... I really love their equipment and whole Omada thing! Great job.

I'd still test the cabling even though it's new. Lots of builders don't care and yank cabling and sometimes nick through the sheathing. Get a fluke and you'll see if it's damaged or not.

Legend says the smoke detector is still chirping....

Please add some 'Advanced' security on that Reolink NVR. It appears that the QR-Code was shown in the clear.

Get a Dewalt gyro recharge screwdriver for wall plates, and other similar work. Best tool ever. PS - Add a Makita magnet to hold bits.

Labelling your cables with a sharpie at rough-in will save you the aggravation later on trying to find them you now know that I'm sure. 😁

Ohhh boy.. I sympathize. I had to terminate 15 cables this weekend, test, figure out what was wrong when it didn't work.. So time consuming and my fingers hurt from sliding down that plastic thing. I didn't cut them short like you did before putting the plastic holder before putting them into the terminator.. I guess I'll try that next time, maybe save me the extra effort... Those WIFI wall plates are awesome.. Those female to female keystone are amazing, no need to punch-in wires..

Just an fyi, when a home has a prewired location in hardiplank like the patio, if they don't use a workbox, they'll attach it to a recessed contact and paint. You can see the contact when you look closely.

Excellent. Did anyone realize that the smoke detector chirped?

Not bad guys, I personally would have mounted the rack over top of that wall box, then put in a patch panel.

Fun video! IMHO the rack is not very deep, I installed some of those and most of the time ended up not being able to use the door because things were 'sticking out'

Good jobs. Am looking forward to see the multi-zone audio system u will be using to distribute audio through the house.

great video. I have a couple of questions: 1) how is noise and heat level from those equipments if you have to use that little room as an office to do some work? 2) total power consumption for home network, I did a quick calc: IP cameras + switch + gateway/router + WAP = 200w*24*30= 144kw per month. not cheap for high energy cost countries. I am debating to settle for mesh network and wireless cameras.

When the cable is mounted upside down the data gets flipped and everything comes out corrupted as it's in reverse 🤦‍♂️🤣

if using solid core cable are you using special plugs made for solid core ethernet, my understanding is that plugs made for multi strand cable do not work with solid core cable ?

What would an empty house tour be without the chirping smoke detector?

Why were the cables not labeled at each end when the drops were routed?

Which home audio did he go with in the end?
