Online Eye Test: Blind Spots

Your eye has an inner lining which is made of a sheet of nerves.
This sheet of nerves is responsible for your vision and what you see and it is called the RETINA.

There is a “hole” in the sheet where the Optic Nerve enters the eye. This area is called the Optic Nerve Head.

Photoreceptors are cells in the retina that detect light and allow you to perceive “vision”.

On the optic nerve head there are NO photoreceptors. Thus, there is no light or vision detected at this spot in the retina.
This is your “Blind Spot”.

Every eye has a blind spot….your blind spot in your right eye is slightly on your right and your blind spot in your left eye is slightly on your left.

When I discover my blindspot in my Left I went to an opthalomologist clinic .The specialist that examined me told that it is the normal blind spot that everyone has in their eyes. He calmed down. I thought that I was getting blind gradually. He was examining my eyes for about an hour but fundoscopy and intraocular pressure were normal. Without findings. Everyone must have a fundoscopy at least once a year .

When I put my eyeglasses on, I can't find my blind spot. Works if I remove them though.

I really don't know why but this don't work for me. A method that works way better than this (this one was mentioned in Vsauce's video): Close any of your eyes, fix your opened eye on some point and only on it. Raise your big thumb on the hand opposite to the closed eye and move it slowly from the center towards the opened eye. You'll see your blind spot

I know it is a tough concept to let sink in - but all of the statements about your brain "filling in" the yellow or the line or the red spot are completely wrong. You only have the peripheral vision around your blind spot that you are seeing. There is literally NO sight (NO information) at that spot. It is a spot that is void of sight - not colored in amazingly by our brains. Like one comment I saw where they were saying they were not sure if the black line was filled in but maybe just yellow... that's close to correct - except there is no yellow "colored" in either. Its really cool and unlike anything we usually experience

start about 6 feet way (make it full screen) and slowly move towards the x, staring at it. For me at about 4 1/2 feet the circle becomes white.Before I had tried this with paper and then moving it all around in front of my face, but at about 10 inches. It will never work then.

Why is the Blind Spot further away in one eye than the other? (the + disappears further away in one eye and disappears nearer for the other)

it works. I did it over the computer. I had to be about a foot away from my screen, but I found it.
