Making holes in rocks isn't exactly "sophisticated". He's talking about using sand but if "it can't be done" with the quartz in sand then they must have used something harder like corundum or even diamond. Just spitballing here but maybe a copper tube with diamonds embedded in it, like the stone drilling bits we use today, would probably cut down on the time it takes. And maybe they didn't use bows. With a harder stone you could use torque and cut slower but deeper. Anyways, there's probably thousands of simple ways to try and replicate this before we say "it isn't possible".

I dont understand why do people think the pyramids where built in such a small time scale, yes you could only drill so much a day but thats because buildings used to take generations to finish, not like today where you can finish a building in a year
