I like how he kept his word and went through the terms of the bet even though they weren't friends anymore and I LOVE how he threw Laney the ball!!!!

This ending scene with her getting the ball blending with the music is so euphoric! 😍

To people who say this film is bad because it's saying Laney had to change herself to get the guy or be happy I really don't agree with that. She had a TINY makeover which was really just the girl showing her how to make the best of her features, she's wearing a tiny bit of make up now which just enhances her natural beauty, gets a haircut that suits her more, and yes wears contacts but she finds she's happier with that and likes it more, no biggie. It's not like they were like "right were gonna dye your hair blonde, make you wear fake tan, and plaster so much make up on you that you're unrecognisable." Even her dress sense is more or less the same in the scenes that "new Laney" is at school, yes she wears a dress to the party and to the prom, but most people would do that anyway, and the dresses aren't a ridiculous stretch for her, they are both fairly modest and understated. Plenty of tomboys or more casual artsy dressers would wear a dress for a big event, it's not changing who you are, just glaming up for the occasion.

Her personality doesn't really change either, she's still heavily devoted and passionate about her art, she still has her morals and ethics and stands for the same things, she is still modest and not too loud or "look at me." She still is more or less the same person, all Zach does is help her open up more and feel more comfortable in herself and around other people.

This was never a story about changing yourself in my opinion, this was a story about someone helping a girl build confidence in herself and break down some barriers she's put up for herself.

Yes she had a small makeover, and I know it's a running joke with this film that she didn't look that different and there wasn't anything wrong with her in the first place, but thats kinda the point to me. All they did was help Laney realise she was beautiful and pretty fucking hot all along, she just needed to love herself a bit more to realise she was worth spending a little extra time on her appearance, and just to simply be shown HOW to aswell. She literally says she didn't have a mother, so was never shown how to do any of this stuff. It's not necessarily that she never wanted to, just never had the opportunity to and then obviously behaviours stick. A few make-up and beauty tips can be a game changer for girls who haven't been shown that. It's not changing yourself, it's just self care and making the most of what you've got.

Same with her personality at the end of the film, she still stands for the same stuff and has her quirks, she's just more confident and comfortable socially now, how is that a bad thing at all?

The smile she gives after he tosses her the volleyball with the music playing is perfect. It almost brings back memories of when I was in love and knew the girl was just as in love with me. Then you get older and those feelings are hard to find, especially when things don't work out with the girl you fell in love with. I always love the ending though, at least I can reminisce and live vicariously through that scene, and who knows maybe one day I will find love like that again.

The ending dialogue deserves so much credit. He's not mad or hurt about what happened with Dean but immediately asks if she's okay. And he wasn't upset about losing her as a love interest because of the bet, but of losing his best friend.

The 90s...truly the last great decade. Even with all the problems of that decade, it was still such a great time filled with so much innocence.

For some reason I love that once Zach heard about the asshole friend trying to take Laney to a hotel (and possibly do something to her) he immediately left the prom. And then when he shows up at her house the first thing he asks is if she's alright. He did some bad stuff in this movie, but overall he seemed like a really nice guy.

I had to come back here to watch this phenomenal end after the disaster of a dumpster they call a remake. Holy Hell.

That ending is one of the best endings to a high school movie that I've seen, the expression on her face and how pure she looks and in love. I can't explain it, I'm not usually one to fall for these type of movies as guy but this ending hits different. It almost reminds me of when I was in love and sure of the girl who loved me back. Damn, I miss those days.

I'm a 90s kid and remember watching this movie as a kid and liking it. And yesterday after almost 3, decades at 31 years old I ran into the movie again. And to to be honest it's a beautiful movie.

ONE OF THE BEST TEEN MOVIES OF ALL TIMES

The instrumental music in the background makes this movie and maybe all 90s/early 2000's teen movies so nostalgic. That feeling that you get. Living life as a teen. Being in high school, falling in love. God...She's All That, 10 Things I Hate About You, American Pie, Drive Me Crazy, Bring It On...those movies, and many more, gave us life. And it still do. My high school years were from 2005 - 2008...John Tucker Must Die, High School Musical 1, 2, & 3. Juno, Superbad (never really watched that movie). But if I had to choose, my life would've resembled life as a teen in the 80s/90s teen movies. But without the falling in love part. Thank God for these movies that speaks to us. I really much prefer these old teen movies than the ones we have today. But Easy A was the last teen film I enjoyed that resembled these old movies.
