Welcome to the 3rd installment into The Dark Pictures Anthology, House Of Ashes! I am really excited about beginning this adventure and I've heard so many great things about it so I can not wait to continue working through this game! Enjoy part 1 for now, part 2 will follow soon..

I’m in an Art and Power in the Near East art history class at my university and I got very excited being able to recognize and name what I saw. Seeing the Lamassu and the complete mask of Naram-sin was just so fun for me.
Just a fun little fact for people who don’t know, Lamassu (the large human and lion/bull creatures at 4:59 and 5:20) are seen as protectors of the gods! The Lamassu at The Metropolitan Museum of Art stand at 3 meters (10 feet) tall if that gives you a good sense of how intimidating they were. Plus they tend to have 5 legs to give an optical illusion of movement as you walk past them!
If I got anything wrong please let me know! I’m just excited to share what I know and I’d be happy to correct myself and learn more if I can!

Even though I understand you not being a big fan of the war story and setting they're telling and taking place in Ryan (especially with it being so relatively recent still) I really have to appreciate the way they're highlighting the humanity of both sides. Now, I've not played this game or seen anything of it besides the demo you played, but I can already fairly clearly see the overall theme they may be trying to present to us. "The enemy of my enemy is my friend"

I'm hoping, like you mentioned in the demo gameplay, that to get the best ending, they pull something along the lines of the monster being bound by conflict, and that they need to end hostilities within the temple to get the best outcome. While working together they were able to harm the creature in the past after all, at least assumedly. And only when he stopped helping this prisoner they had previously kept were they killed and harmed themselves.

Whatever the case, I hope the setting doesn't leave too bad of a taste in your mouth that you stop playing. I did notice after all that you were a bit slower to post the first part than it's release, despite I'm sure getting an early copy. And you seem very disturbed or at least upset by the scenario early on. So here's hoping you play this to completion. Here's hoping I'm right with my theory. And here's hoping that despite all that if you feel too uncomfortable about this game's story, that you don't play it after all. I want your happiness and satisfaction to come before all else

Taking into account the other games in this anthology this will involve a mental breakdown or an environmental factor that causes hallucinations. Though given there are now chemical weapons stored down there seems the likely cause of what horrors they will uncover. The fact they have stressor gives them a snapping point.

I'm just laughing at how Ryan is curious/confused about how the guys "insult" each others when they talk about each other's mom. That's the military for you, especially the marines. They have the best sense of humor because that is the main thing keeping them from completely breaking
