ICESat 2: The Final Delta II - KSP Cinematic

NASA’s Ice, Cloud, and land Elevation Satellite 2 (ICESat-2) was launched on September 15, 2018 it’s mission is to measure ice sheet elevation and sea ice, as well as land topography and vegetation characteristics.

The Spacecraft was Launched onboard a United Launch Alliance Delta II 7410-10C rocket from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California.

This mission was the Final Flight of the Delta II after a 29 year career launching on 154 Successful missions from 1989-2018 from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station SLC-17 and SLC-2 At Vandenberg AFB Launching multiple mission for NASA, the U.S. Air Force, The Global Positioning System (GPS) and other commercial companies.

RIP Delta 2. It was a good rocket. A rocket that launched hundreds of payloads, including opportunity, the rover that got people the most emotional over a spacecraft, and the rocket that had the coolest booster seperations (at least for the 6 booster ones). It will forever be missed.
