Thank you very much for addressing this, i just finished uploading a 8GB video and my bandwidth is crap in terms of the upload speed in particular (100MB down / 3MB up), and i tried at least 5 times already to upload it, so thanks to you i haven't deleted my video when it was showing up at 360p, so i'll wait, tyvm! :)
also on a side note, why so many dislikes on this video? The dude addressed an issue in just a 2 minute video, he should get a Guiness record for not wasting too much time explaining a simple thing like all other channels do.

I'm confused so when you upload a video and after the processing it says publish, so do you wait a while before pressing that or do you upload the video normally and it will change to high quality a while after being uploaded

Some think the title is misleading and it should say "The Videos YOU MAKE", the peeps down voting, are wanting to know why OTHER videos they watch on YouTube start at lowest quality and they have to manually bump it up every time.

I think t his problem gets worse the bigger the video. I have a 241G 4K video that took a long time to upload and process, and once it finished processing, it still only plays in 360p. In all the other 4K vids I've uploaded, it's always been playable as soon as the HD and 4K is complete. I sort of doubt waiting for years will help, and I certainly can't publish at this resolution! I just wish their system would let me know up front if something went wrong, instead of just showing me HD and 4K as complete.

I have a 1080p video I uploaded over a year ago that is still 360p. I don't think waiting is always the solution as Youtube is limiting many of us to 360p.
