तिरे ग़म को जाँ की तलाश थी तिरे जाँ-निसार चले गए
तिरी रह में करते थे सर तलब सर-ए-रहगुज़ार चले गए

Listening to Faiz by Shaukat is an experience not to be forgotten; Faiz was the SUN in the skies of the 20th. Century. I see the listeners, they are ELITE of Pakistan, I see blank looks on their faces, now I understand why Pakistan is what it is today.

Shaukat Ali leaning and dropping his left shoulder as he flawlessly sings those high notes in his hypnotizing voice is an experience that’d make you forget the abject meaningless of life for a while. Absolute artistry of some godly level. Also:

مرے ضبطِ حال سے روٹھ کر مرے غم گُسار چلے گئے

What a clever line. People don't care about sympathizing, they only come out of curiosity to watch you scratch your wounds. Faiz controlled his emotions, didn't put up a show and surprisingly all his so-called well wishers left.
